Streets of the City and Flash back memories

The second week in New York city was quiet a week , I would say. I could taste a perfect blend of " how miserably funny life can be here"........so here's the one week journey.  The scavenger hunt was great , Thanks a lot to Shea. Cassandra  and all my team-mates. Museums are amusing and illuminating, it is always good to know about arts of different culture and countries. Streets of the city are amazing to walk on, It seems like "you can never get enough of this city" and it's much more deeper then it looks from outside. Few very beautiful girls and me took subway to central park for enjoying the free piano concert, and we made it just before time. The show was great, although I was feeling a bit sleepy. But sleep found its way back when crazy girls started to explore the New York, singing out loud, laughing and hunting for VS. :)
Classes and workshops are complete package of knowledge, fun and discussions. I am sure, they would be very useful in my academic carrier. I must thanks Marcia for giving class assignment of power point presentation, it was amazing to know about so many beautiful places around the world and will try to improve my presentation skills based on your comments. Thank you Danielle for helping with the writing part, it's critical for me to put all the pieces of jigsaw puzzle on the right place but I can do it now.
What can I say about the weekend, it's a festival in India , called "Raksha-Bandhan" to celebrate the pure bond and beautiful relation of brother-sister. It is hard to find a brother in New York. Care, emotions and feelings are least of one's concerns. Sometimes it feels so superficial and lonely but life is all about living, so here I am happy and optimistic.
Now when it's just one more week ahead and everyone will have to leave for their respective destinations, I really don't want to leave. Looking forward to a lively last week of this program!

Moments of silent have pauses of words
Trying to tell everything but,
Of course... fails every time
Feelings are poetic not words
When the words are helpless
poem comes...helping the words
to stand in line,.. happily...
with wrong grammar!!!
Only way of conversion
The meaning of silent moments...

Why the music you do not interfere?
I want your answer to hear

"I am the New York music
ringing in noise and silent same
'm trying to touch feelings same!"

A wonderful Lunch at B&D Halal Restaurant

Had a wonderful lunch yesterday at B&D Halal Restaurant - 163B W 29th St New YorkNY 10001 with Tabassum and Sadiyah ; I simply enjoyed the food and specially the salad which I loved the most.
During the last two weeks, I have learnt that there is nothing you can't find in New York, everything from any place of the world is available here, so guys don't worry but yes, you have to do a search for the thing you want first, just a click, and you get the whole information.

Enjoy your last week in New York guys :)

Embrace the difference

We often find it hard to accept when something is different than you expected or someone has different point of view than yours. For instance, in a group of people they usually get closer to the ones that they have something in common. Even in our pre-academic class, we already see people in groups hanging out together- some of them speak same language, others have similar interest in food, or even some has same assignments. So why do you think we become closer with those are similar to us?

Because it is much more comfortable, because it is not hard to start conversation with or just do things together. In other words, we are tend to be in our comfort zones and in most cases we're too afraid to get out of it. But that's where the adventure begins. When you accept the difference in others, not only will you learn from them, but also you'll grow from each other, expand our own world of view and most importantly we can value each other as human beings despite the differences.

I'm personally admired by NYC and its people. No matter how diverse and how culturally mixed the city, everyone accept each other as the way they are. Let's accept the fact that you are and always will be different from others, so are they!

Dare to embrace the difference.

Dear New York, I know I had some problems with you in the first few days (probably because i was new) but now I am in love with you.. you really are the city of lights, which never sleeps.. I will never forget the great artists and helping people whom i saw and met here.. Its sad that we are together for one more week but I promise that I will come back to explore you more..

How to look at pictures?

A week ago I was 90 years old. I had just come from Scavenger Hunt at the Metropolitan. I didn’t like it. I didn’t like it at all.
Why granny?
Scavenger Hunt: win or lose. Hurry up! Please find the right answer. Rush and cultivate yourself.
Right now I’m looking to this Edo Period Painting at the Metropolitan Museum. (This is the third time). It is full of flowery waterfalls and bloody worriers holding swords, but they look frozen. Fluid flowers framing frozen samurai.
How to look at pictures?
“Once I planned to write a book of poems entirely about the things in my pockets. But I found it would be too long”, wrote Chesterton in his book “Tremendous Trifles”. He is telling us how to look at pictures, how to look around us: with microscopic eyes. The world becomes too large. We, then, widen our eyes. Open your eyes (wide open eyes) too receive - patiently - the immenseness of lost worlds.

If time is money, then you must rush! If you don’t want to rush, sit yourself or walk like a snail. Dive slowly into each picture.

“The Blue” and “The Red”

What I knew about colors so far was just that some of them have a specific message with specific objects in a specific situation. For instance, a yellow or red rose can be the sign of love for someone on February 14th (The Valentine). No one in the world knows better about colors than artists, because colors speak to Artists in an artistic way.

But it was very interesting to know from my honorable instructor Marcia about the message behind the two colors “The Blue” and “The Red”. The two colors enjoy not only artistic meaning but also some political ones as well. The American aspect of the two colors is that “The Blue” refers to those states in US where voters predominantly vote for Democratic Party, while “The Red” refers to those states where people constantly vote for the Republican Party. Moreover, there is “The Purple” as well but “The Blue” and “The Red” dominate most of the states.

Keeping the new aspect of the two colors I observed the followings,

I know the places in the pictures are very familiar to you. Yes you are right. They are St. John’s Manhattan Campus where you can see that how beautifully the two colors are used in combinations. You can see them on floors, furniture and even the St. John’s Logo. I am not sure what exactly the intentions are behind using them on Campus but I could guess the followings,

1.       It can be a sign of bringing the nation together.
2.       Maybe it is to show a kind of respect to everyone’s political ideology.
3.       Another possibility is that the two colors are very prominent in the National Flag of USA.
4.       Or very weak guess, it can be a co-incidence.

What so ever the actual intention is, I just know that it is positive. I can say it with full attention and based on the St. John’s staff's behavior and professionalism in the administrative and instructive affairs. Thank you all. And I appreciate your comments.
