My Perception of New York

Before coming to New York, I had heard a lot about this city. It is the most crowded city of the world, it is a center of trade, it is the city of skyscrapers and many more things. Many things I saw here were according to my expectations while there were some other aspects that I had never thought of as I saw in practice.
The fact that New York is the center of trade is undeniable, but seeing the long lines of tourists in each and every event of excursion was a phenomenon above my expectation. It made me think of New York  as a city of tourism as well. Although New York is one of the biggest and the most populated cities of the world still it seems to be one of the least crowded cities of the world because as I was coming from the Airport and during the visit to the city, I didn't see any kind of traffic jams which show the well managed traffic system of the city.
Another thing that is worthy to be mentioned is the inclusiveness of the city. I left my country (Afghanistan) with a perception that I may miss the meals and people of Afghanistan. When I reached New York, I realized that everything is available and I don’t have to miss anything except for my family members. Even I found an Afghan restaurant pretty near to the campus of St. Johns University.

Anyways, it is a great experience being here and I hope we have a wonderful time during coming two weeks.

  2. There are great insights and observations. I'm glad you feel that you are finding ways to stay connected with Afganistan. I wonder how your preceptions are growing as you see more of the city and spend more time here.
