We are no longer fear the subway

One of the most memorable things for many of us (Fulbrighters) is probably the subway. Not because do we have unlimited free rides or is it the only transportation we take for commuting but I believe it is the different experiences everybodies have with it from the first day in New York City.

There is no such thing as a subway train in Cambodia that make it surprisingly hard for me to get used to. Remember the first time to get on the train it took me almost an hour to just find the subway entrance and to buy the single pass metro card from the vending machine then asking almost every passers in the subway to get on correct train to St. George residence.

On Monday finding the way to St. Johns University from the residence is even more challenging. Fortunately, we have marvelous coordinators (Shea, and Cassandra) to lead us to the university on the that day, otherwise we might not be on time for our first class. Few days later some of us including me still either got lost or took the wrong train in the subway sometimes since it's so easy to get confused between the uptown and the downtown train in the same station. Even an expect like Shea could get it wrong once when taking us out for the excursion.

The train will come soon...
We made it!

After almost 2 weeks now, we learned about the subway map, trains routes, uptown and downtown, and transferring between trains we are less and less susceptible in getting lost in the subway. Even though we will not claim ourselves to be the experts we will be able to get wherever we want with an up to date subway map and a valid metro card.

Enjoy the rides.
